How to Measure

KILTS:

Your kilt size is NOT your pants size.

DO NOT ORDER YOUR KILT BASED ON YOUR PANT SIZE

Don't take the measurement yourself or you will likely get it wrong. Get someone to help you.

WAIST: Traditional tartan kilts are worn higher up at the naval level. Make sure the measurement is taken against the skin or while wearing a thin shirt/t-shirt. The tape measure should be snug although not too tight when recording your measurements. If you measure at 37" then you should order a 36-38" kilt.

If you measure exactly at 36" (for example) you should order the 36-38" kilt. Not the 34-36".

DO NOT BREATHE OUT OR HOLD YOUR BREATH WHILE MEASURING. Just relax as normal.

DROP: Kneel on the floor, have your body straight up (your knees should be at a 90 degree angle). Measure from the belly button down to the floor. If you have a larger belly, take the measurement from the side.

This is a guideline only but your own measurements should be what you see here or very close.

 HEIGHT DROP LENGTH
5'6 - 5'7 22 - 23"
5'7 - 5'9 23 - 24"
5'9 - 5'11 24"
5'11 - 6'2 24" - 26"
6'2 - 6'4 26"
6'4+ 26 - 27+"

MODERN UTILITY KILTS: Please measure exactly where you will be wearing the kilt and order based on that measurement. Typically these utility style kilts are worn at the traditional kilt level which is around the naval but some do favor wearing them lower down at your normal pant level. It's entirely personal preference so it's important to be sure of your required size.

LADIES SKIRTS: These skirts taper from top to bottom. Please measure where the top of the skirt will be worn and order based on that measurement. We offer 16", 18" , 20" and 22" drop lengths.
